Medica discontinuing end of 2023
Medica recently announced discontinuing the FitChoices program. The $20 FitChoices program offered through Medica is being discontinued at the end of 2023.
Eligible December workouts will be reimbursed in January 2024.

Aerostar Reimbursement Program
As of 10/1/2023, Aerostar employees will be eligible for a new Fitness Reimbursement Program. Eligible Aerostar employees will be eligible for a Fitness Reimbursement program in which 8 workouts per month will reimburse up to $30 p/mo. Call NIHCA to get more information.

Prime Health Reimbursement Program
Prime Health is a group of members that in 2022 had PreferredOne insurance. However, as of 1/1/2023, these Prime Health people will be eligible for their own, exclusive program managed by NIHCA. The program is identical in that 12 workouts per month will reimburse up to $20 p/mo for the member and a second participating adult.

UCare Medicare Program
As of 1/1/2022, UCare Medicare plans will be changing from SilverSneakers to the One Pass* program with an increase in reimbursement from $20 to up to $30 p/month.
As a club, you will have two choices:
- Great News! Start submitting your UCare Medicare members on the NIHCArewards portal! This means you could start charging these eligible UCare Medicare for membership dues. Plus, UCare will increase their senior-only reimbursement from $20 p/mo to a $30 p/mo for UCare Medicare members; no minimum requirement of workouts is required by the senior – just a paid membership at a participating NIHCA health club.
- If you already belong to Renew Active, then contact the One Pass Network but realize you will need to waive your membership fee for this program.
The advantage of this change for any NIHCA club, is that you may now finally submit all your eligible UCare members in NIHCArewards. AND better yet, you can start charging your UCare senior members a membership fee while the member will be rewarded up to $30 p/mo vs only $20 p/mo.
Please note: UCare Individual Family Plan (IFP), UCare MinnesotaCare and UCare MA programs are un-changed and are still eligible for the fitness reimbursement program through NIHCA at 12 workouts = up to $20 p/mo reimbursement. However be reminded, that these people need to workout 12 days p/mo in order to receive an up to $20 reimbursement p/mo.
*One Pass is a program affiliated with Renew Active; please contact them with more detailed questions.

Medica Senior Program
As of 1/1/2022, Medica seniors will not offer Silver Sneakers and will be offering the One Pass* program. This change is only for Medica Senior/Medicare members. The other FitChoice programs are alive and well with no changes in 2022. If members have questions, they can reach out to the Medica Call Center to answer any questions they may have.
*One Pass is a program affiliated with Renew Active; please contact them with more detailed questions.

PrimeWest Reimbursement Program
Two changes for 2022: 1. PrimeWest Health will be adding new eligible groups to the existing program to include: MSHO and Prime Health Comp care types as of 1/1/2022. 2. PrimeWest Health is lowering the required number of workouts for all their eligible members! The number of monthly workout counts decreased from 12 visits to zero (0). That means, eligible PrimeWest Health members will receive up to $20 p/mo reimbursement for no minimum number of workouts per month; however, members must have a paid membership at the participating health club.

HealthPartners Senior Program
As of 1/1/2022, Health Partners is changing from Silver&Fit to the SilverSneakers program for their seniors. If members have questions, they can reach out to the HealthPartner’s Customer Service Department to answer any questions they may have. Please note: This change is only for HealthPartners Senior/Medicare members. The other Frequent Fitness programs are alive and well with no changes in 2022.
