Next week NIHCA is opening their doors to start building up the Shoe Swap to benefit our local school. NIHCA moved to Granite Falls the fall of 2010 and is thankful to be part of an amazing community here in Granite Falls and in Yellow Medicine County. NIHCA is making our “footprint in the community by starting up and sponsoring the YME “Shoe Swap”. This is an opportunity to help all students to pursue their sport activities without worry of how to get the appropriate footwear.
Erica has been focusing on getting a space organized for the Shoe Swap within the NIHCA Office. She said it best:
“I am thrilled to be assisting with the Shoe Swap. I see the Shoe Swap as an amazing opportunity for our community to come together for our kids. An awesome experience for the kids to learn about donating and how to give back. This is a great way for kids to pay it forward to each other. If we teach our kids to do good things in the world now, just think of what they will bring to our community when they are adults. It is never too young to learn how to give back.
The Shoe Swap will grow and will be here to help kids who need shoes for sports. I hope there is also much success in the kids learning to give back when they are able.”
Right on, Erica, we could not say it any better. NIHCA looks forward to watching the Shoe Swap grow from the shoes you see pictured here to a room full of gently used, clean, donated shoes waiting to be swapped by kids for kids. Kids have growing feet and sometimes it happens faster than you can drive to the next community over to get a pair of cleats. #Swapapair
